‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’: Royal Challengers Bengaluru lift maiden IPL title in 18 years

Chasing a target of 191, Punjab Kings batsmen buckled under pressure during the IPL 2025 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (June 3, 2025). Royal Challengers lifted their maiden title in the IPL after a long wait of 18 years. 

Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers bowled brilliantly to cruise to win by 6 runs.

None of the Punjab Kings batsmen stood up to the pressure built by RCB bowlers except some crucial knocks Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis. Shashank Singh played a lone battle with wickets crumbling at the other end.

After sent into bat by Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished at 190

Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost Phil Salt for 16 with the score at 18. Then Mayank Agarwal (24) and Virat Kohli (43) consolidated the innings. Chahal struck in his first over by removing Agarwal with the score at 56. 

Captain Rajat Patidar (26) and Kohli added 40 for the third wicket. At the end of 10 overs, RCB were at 87 for 2. RCB lost Virat Kohli with the score at 131.

When it seemed all are over for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Liam Livingstone (25) and Jitesh Sharma (24) added quick runs of 36 in just 2 overs. 

Romario Shepherd (17 off 9 balls) played some lusty hits towards the end of the innings. Arshdeep Singh took three wicket in the final which ended Royal Challengers Bengaluru at 190.
