Controlled by: Chief Postmaster General (CPMG)
Applicable to: All regularly engaged GDS
Not applicable to: Substitutes / provisional GDS
Effective from: 11.02.2026
Supersedes earlier OM dated 11.09.2024
🔹 2. Subscription
₹40 per month (₹480 per year)
Recovered in one lump sum every April (from March TRCA)
Mandatory membership
If not recovered for 6 months continuously → Membership terminated
🔹 3. Contribution from Central Welfare Fund
₹200 per GDS per year
Given annually to each Circle
🔹 4. Three Main Benefits
✅ (A) Financial Grants
Death Cases:
Normal death – ₹11,000
Death on duty (accident) – ₹27,500
Death due to terrorist activity (on duty) – ₹1,65,000
Funeral expenses – ₹5,500
Medical Assistance:
Major surgery (Cancer, heart, kidney etc.) – Up to ₹30,000
Accident hospitalization (>3 days) – ₹5,500
TB Nutritional diet – ₹440 (Indoor) / ₹220 (Outdoor) per month (max 6 months)
Education Assistance:
IIT/AIIMS/IIM – ₹1,100 per month
Technical Degree – ₹308 per month
Diploma – ₹209 per month
BA/BSc/BCom – ₹165 per month
ITI – ₹1,034 per annum
Academic excellence awards – ₹550 to ₹1,100
Natural Calamities:
Financial assistance up to ₹7,500
COVID Assistance:
₹50,000

Maximum loan: ₹1,00,000 (two times in career)
Interest: 3% to 5% per annum
Loan Purposes:
BPO room construction – ₹50,000
Computer/Laptop – ₹20,000
Two-wheeler – ₹20,000
Electric vehicle – ₹50,000
Mobile/Tablet – ₹15,000

🔹 5. Important Conditions
Individual eligible only once under a particular grant head.
Loans require surety.
Scholarship limited to two children.
Maximum 20% of fund for education assistance.
Maximum 40% of fund for loans (if corpus ≥ ₹50 lakh).
Annual audit mandatory.
