The Federation of National Postal Organisation (FNPO) has sent a letter to the National Council (Joint Consultative Machinery, Staff Side), outlining its recommendations for the 8th Pay Commission. A key highlight in the FNPO letter is the proposed multi-level fitment factor, which range from 3.0 to 3.25, applicable to Group A, B, C and D postal employees.
Sivaji Vasireddy, FNPO secretary general, and member NCJCM (Staff Side) has included the organisation’s inputs on various topics like higher pay scales, pay structure, pay matrix system, annual increments, allowances, promotions, and more in his 60-page letter to the parent body.
Vasireddy told ET Wealth Online that NCJCM is set to convene a meeting with draft committee members on February 25, 2026, after gathering recommendations from different central government employee organisations.
He said that after the February 25 meeting, the NCJCM will draft a final set of recommendations to be sent to 8th Pay Commission chairperson Ranjana Prakash Desai. The draft will include the fitment factor, minimum and higher wage, allowances, including those for Railway employees, reveals Vasireddy.
Let’s take a look at what FNPO is requesting for its employees from the chairperson of the 8th CPC.
FNPO’s recommended fitment factor for postal employees
FNPO says the rationalisation factor has not been consistently applied across all levels in the previous pay commissions, both by design and necessity. Therefore, it seeks different fitment factors (ranging from 3.0 to 3.25) for various employee levels.
“We have recommended our fitment factors based on the Akroyd formula, where we have taken 4 family member units for our calculation,” says Vasireddy.
