Bulk Barcode Scanner Chrome Extension for Faster Bag Closing | Submission for Postal Employees

I hope this email finds you well.

I am a regular follower of your website and appreciate the valuable resources, updates, and utilities you share for the postal community across India.

During our daily dispatch routine, one major bottleneck has been the bag-closing process. When booking bulk articles, we already have all article numbers in an Excel or spreadsheet file, but our portal requires scanning each barcode individually or typing them one by one followed by Enter. This makes closing bags of 50 to 100+ articles tedious and time-consuming.

To solve this, I developed a lightweight, offline browser extension called "Bulk Bag Scanner Pro" (for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge). It automates the entry process by allowing the user to paste an entire list of article numbers and simulated-scans them directly into the active portal window.

I would like to share this utility with fellow postal colleagues through your platform completely free of charge.

Key Features of the Extension:

  • Bulk Scanning Simulation: Paste a full list of article numbers; the tool types each number and triggers the submission automatically with a customizable delay.
  • 100% Offline & Secure: Runs entirely locally inside the browser. It requires no internet access, calls no external APIs, and does not store or transmit any postal data outside the local machine.
  • Works on Chrome & Edge: Compatible with both browsers via "Developer Mode" without requiring administrative privileges or third-party software installation.
  • Built-in Error Handling & Queue Management:
    • Removes each article from the queue the moment it is scanned (so remaining articles stay intact if paused).
    • Automatically pauses if a portal pop-up or alert appears.
    • Includes an optional 13-character S10 barcode format check (e.g., XX123456789IN).
    • Saves recent bag dispatch history locally for easy reference.

How to Install & Use (Quick Guide):

  1. Extract the attached BagScannerExtension.zip folder to your computer.
  2. Open Chrome or Edge and go to chrome://extensions or edge://extensions.
  3. Enable Developer mode (toggle on the top right or bottom left).
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the extracted folder.
  5. On the bag-closing portal screen, click inside the barcode input box, paste the article numbers into the floating scanner panel, and click Start.

I have attached the complete .zip file containing the clean source files. Please feel free to test it, review the code, and publish it on your website or social channels so it can help save valuable time for staff at booking centers, sub-post offices, and parcel hubs.
