IMPORTANT ALERT – DIGITAL ARREST SCAM

🚨 IMPORTANT ALERT – DIGITAL ARREST SCAM 🚨

All colleagues are requested to note:

There is NO legal concept called “Digital Arrest” in India.

Recently, a retired Chief Postmaster General (77 years) was cheated of ₹22 lakhs by fraudsters posing as officials from the Ministry of Communications, Police and CBI using phone calls and video calls.

🔴 How the scam works
• Call claiming FIR against your mobile number
• Threats of arrest, national security cases
• Fake police/CBI officers on Google Meet
• Instructions to stay isolated
• Demand to transfer money for “verification”

❌ IMPORTANT
• Police / CBI never investigate through WhatsApp, Signal, Google Meet
• No department asks for money transfer for enquiry
• FIRs are not handled over phone or video calls
