DIGI PIN: Postal Index Number

DigiPin, which is better than the number-PIN), has been introduced by the Department of Posts. While a PIN indicates a wide area, a digital PIN clearly states that it is a particular building. DigiPin is a 10-digit code that helps in easily identifying an address. It contains letters and numbers. It was brought so that ambulances and fire brigades can reach remote areas with certainty. This DigiPin can be shared with online e-commerce companies like Flipcard and Amazon. It is most useful in villages and areas where there are no clear addresses. It was developed jointly by IIT Hyderabad and ISRO's National Remote Sensing Centre. The entire country is divided into 4x4 meter grids and a code is assigned to each grid based on latitude and longitude. With the help of the DigiPin platform brought by the Department of Posts, homes, offices, institutions, etc. can get it. The PIN appears when you tap on the desired area. The code can be added to the address. It is designed to be used offline as well. It does not change the address. It acts as an additional digital address and identifies the exact location. In the future, if Digi PIN is integrated with GIS systems, the need for traditional addresses may be reduced.
